The Foothill Marching Band traveled to San Diego this past weekend to compete in the Vista Invitational Field Tournament.  42 Bands performed at this event and Foothill took 2nd Place in the 4A Division.

Results from recent marching band competitions:

October 6: Henderson Bandfest at Basic High School, Foothill Band and Drill Team received the following awards:
        - 1st Place (AAA Division), Outstanding Music, Outstanding Visual, Outstanding Effect, Outstanding Percussion,  Outstanding Auxiliary (Drill Team)

October 13: Silverado Showdown at Silverado  High School, Foothill Band and Drill Team took 1st Place in the AAA Division.

October 20: Summerlin Spectacular at Palo Verde High School, Foothill Band and Drill Team received the following awards:
        - 1st Place (AAA Division), Outstanding Music, Outstanding Effect, Outstanding Percussion

November 3: Las Vegas Invitational at Las Vegas High School, Foothill Band and Drill Team competed with 34 bands.   Foothill received the following awards:
        - 4th Place (AAA Division) and  8th Place (Finals)

Congratulations to the FHS Drum Line which took 1st Place at the Southern Nevada Indoor Percussion Association competition on Tuesday, March 27 here at Foothill.  The Drum Line will be traveling to Los Angeles this weekend to compete at the American Drum Line Association competition.

Please join me in congratulating the Foothill Band students for receiving top honors at the CCSD Concert Band Festival this past weekend.  Both the Intermediate and Advanced Bands received Superior Ratings.  This is the first time in school history that the Intermediate Band was recognized with this honor and the 8th year in a row for the Advanced Band.

On April 17 the Advanced Band will perform a concert at the Henderson Pavilion along with the Advanced Bands from Coronado and Sierra Vista.  Guest conducting on this concert will be composer, Elliot Del Borgo.  In addition to his music for the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, he has published over 400 compositions for a variety of media.

The Entertainment Book/ Falcon Card fundraiser is being closed this week.  Any monies or items not sold need to be returned to the band room no later than TUESDAY OCTOBER 10.  Any items not returned by this date will be charged to the student's account.  The profits will be added to the student's account by Wednesday (10/11/06) which can then be used for the trip to California
